Yes, you heard that right. I am packed up. 100%. I even had to unpack a little so I could shower and stuff tonight. After 3-yes three-tries, my checked bag is under the limit of 23 kilos (according to Teresa's scale, it's now 21!!). Yes, that means that my carry-ons are extremely heavy, but those don't count, right?!
So now that it's really real, my conflicting feelings have fled and I am straight up sad about leaving Cáceres. So sad. We had our goodbye dinner last night with the program director Toñi, who due to family issues really didn't actually do very much with us this semester, some of the student helpers, and all of our professors came too (oh, except one I guess)! It was a good way to start the goodbyes, because it was really fun and not too too sad because they weren't the people we're really close to, although I will def miss some of my profs, especially:
José Julio
Marisa and José Julio's daughter, Sofía
As you can tell by our rosy faces, our free meal came with beer and tinto de verano, it's the European way :)
Today, some of our group (we still have finals etc tomorrow so some people were freaking out too much to join) went up the mountain for one last time. Some girls bought bottles of wine and sparkling juice and we toasted to our time together overlooking the beautiful city of Cáceres. What a perfect way to end our time together.
This wasn't everyone, but it's cute
Then some more of us joined up at La Trufa to enjoy their pastries one last time and to study for our grammar final tomorrow. You can guess how much studying was done, but it was really fun.
So tomorrow is our last day. I have a final and a couple more classes, will enjoy one last meal with Teresa and Leandro, and be on my way to Madrid with roughly 75% of our program where we'll spend the night in the hotel we stayed at on the way here (oh, the circle of life).
I'll write another blog after I get home with details about spring break (I got the notes from Christina today, so I'm ready now!) and some reflections on my whole trip, but this will be my last blog coming from Spain! I can't believe how quickly this semester flew by, but it is one for which I will always be thankful, and which I will always remember with fondness.
Day 1:
Thing number 1 I'm looking forward to about being home: my friends and family
Thing number 1 I'll miss about living in Cáceres: my friends and family
Hablamos pronto!
